In this short video, Janie Brown, RN, MSN, MA, co-founder and executive director of the Callanish Society, discusses her experience building relationships with retreat participants and the power of learning to love strangers, including learning how to grieve.

“You sit in these circles, in the first night people tell their stories as in your program too, and when you listen to stories you start, you activate—this heart activates compassion almost immediately when you’re in community, where as you said with this unconditional positive regard that we know as love, that something happens within us that bonds us deeply.
