Modes of action
Studies suggest that the anti-tumor activities of G. lucidum polysaccharide (GLPS) are mediated by its immunomodulatory, anti-angiogenic, and cytotoxic effects. GLPS affects immune cells and immune-related cells including B lymphocytes, T lymphocytes, dendritic cells, macrophages, and natural killer cells.1Xu Z, Chen X, Zhong Z, Chen L, Wang Y. Network pharmacology revealed that key targets of G. lucidum against endometrial cancer were primarily associated with the Rap1 signaling pathway.2Shi M. One study found that the mode of extraction of medicinal mushrooms may determine the nature of the immunomodulatory effects on immune cells, presumably owing to the differential solubility of stimulatory and inhibitory mediators.
